Panama Social and Political Walk

About this experience

Join a storytelling walk through Panama, blending documentary-style analysis with on-the-ground exploration. This 2.5-hour experience offers a unique perspective on the country's political history, social dynamics, and lesser-known areas that most tourists never see. Your host Isaac or Mary is a political scientist and the founder of Planetwonk. They work with a team of political science, sociology, and economics experts to provide insightful experiences that go far beyond typical tourist narratives. These walks are carbon-neutral, small in size, and deliberately avoid tourist hotspots to offer authentic perspectives. The experience begins by discovering Panama's political history, exploring key moments that shaped the nation from the Canal Zone era to modern democracy. You will analyze current social issues, examining the dynamics that define contemporary Panamanian society including inequality, development, and cultural identity. Throughout the walk, you will engage in open discussion, sharing insights and opinions with your guide and fellow participants. This is not a lecture but a dialogue where your perspectives are valued and encouraged. Explore hidden spots and visit lesser-known areas that reveal the real Panama beyond the glossy tourist image. By the end, you will gain new perspectives and develop your own informed views on Panama's place in Latin American politics and global affairs. Note: This is an adults-only experience for guests 18 and up. If the scheduled times do not work, contact the host to arrange a date and time that suits you.
